Dear friends,

Life is mission. Our recent Beginning Day invited us to discover that mission is not one task among others, but the central aspect of our lives: “Our task is to collaborate in building, ‘constructing’ the Church, in building, constructing unity,” Fr. Giussani taught us, “This is ‘the’ task of those who have been touched by the announcement of Christ.”

I write to invite you to build the Church by contributing to the 2024 En Route Foundation Fundraising Campaign. Through its educative, cultural, and charitable works, the En Route Foundation seeks to be a missionary presence, articulating the newness of faith lived in communion. It is a much-needed witness in a world that is dominated by violence, destruction, and despair.

We have been called to share in Christ’s own mission, which is to make visible the Father’s love, and we accomplish this by living our faith in the unity of the Church. The charism of Fr. Giussani educates us in belonging and in freedom, and this invitation to support the work of the En Route Foundation challenges us to examine how our unity touches the most intimate aspects of our lives – our friendships, our work, our money. We have received everything we need to live; let us share in the mission of the One who loved us first. Let us then offer freely and thus share in Christ’s mission, acknowledging what we hold most dear.
